Our History
Pine Central Holy Spirit RLFC is a not-for-profit organisation run by a Management Committee and Sub-Committee, comprising volunteer parents who are duly elected or appointed.
The Holy Spirit Club was founded in 1979 by Don Hurren and John Guifoyle, with Corbett Park, Brothers, serving as the first home ground.
The club celebrated its first premiership in 1982, having established its home ground at Holy Spirit School, Bray Park, a year after its founding in 1981.
The official opening of the clubhouse took place in 1987, coinciding with the formation of the club’s first senior team. A year earlier, in 1986, the Pine River Shire Council granted the club its first lease.
In 1991, Barry Larsen was inducted as the club’s first Life Member in recognition of his significant contributions.
The amalgamation of Holy Spirit RLFC with Brothers in 1994 marked a pivotal moment in the club’s history.
In 1998, the club received its first grant, representing a significant step forward in its development.
A new chapter began in 2004 with the formation of Pine Central Holy Spirit RLFC, following the conclusion of the Brothers/Holy Spirit venture in 2003.
In 2009, the club’s commitment to junior development was recognised when it was awarded Brisbane Junior Rugby League “Club of the Year.”

In 2012, the club celebrated its first Pine Cup victory.
By 2014, the club had reached a significant financial milestone, securing $1,000,000 in grant funding. That same year, it was also named Brisbane 2nd Division Senior “Club of the Year.”

The club’s continued success was reflected in 2017 when it was named Brisbane 2nd Division Senior “Club of the Year.”
The year 2018 was particularly significant as the club recorded 519 players and 34 teams. It was the first time Senior Northside 1, 2 and 3 teams were fielded, alongside three female teams. The club also proudly celebrated its 40th Anniversary.
In 2019, the club marked the return of a Women’s Team for the first time in 19 years and was honoured with the “Good Sports Club” certificate. The Senior Northside 1 team also achieved a major milestone, winning the prestigious Ted Beaumont Trophy for the first time.
The 2020 season presented significant challenges due to COVID-19 restrictions and a shortened competition. Despite this, it was a landmark year with the introduction of an Under-12 Girls Team, bringing the total to a record five female teams. The club also appointed its first Female Development Officer, welcomed the Brisbane Veterans RLFC to operate from its grounds for the first time, and officially implemented the club’s new logo, originally designed in 2019.
In 2021, the club achieved several remarkable milestones, including a record 616 players and 37 teams, eight of which were female teams. This year also saw the appointment of the club’s first Male Development Officer and official recognition as a Junior Girls Club by Rugby League Brisbane.
